| Welcome to the Telephone Pioneers – L. H. Kinnard Chapter #7 Welcome to the L. H. Kinnard Pioneers web page. We hope that our website will help you understand a little bit of what the Telephone Pioneers do and who we are. Our Chapter was formed in 1922 and our members have been answering the call of those in need since then. The L. H. Kinnard Chapter extends from Easton to Altoona in Pennsylvania with our Chapter Office in Harrisburg. Chapter President Sue Epler’s project is “Living and Learning Through Pioneering.” In addition to Living and Learning projects the Pioneers continue to work with Domestic Violence Shelters, “Read To Me Kits” for newborns, Backpacks filled with school supplies for children at Domestic Violence Shelters and schools, Hygiene Kits for use in emergencies, Hug-A-Bears, Hats for Hugs, Baby Caps, Shoebox for Soldiers, Repairing Talking Books, Adopt-A-Highway, Sports Jamboree for blind and wheelchair bound children, International Coastal Cleanup, Playground Maps, Scholastic Dictionaries & Vocabulary Builders, Power Up To Read, Seasons Reading, Project To Connect and Electronic Maps. In addition to helping our communities we have many fellowship events such as our Spring Luncheon, Chapter Reunion, Chapter Picnic and the Travel Trolley. At this site you will be able to join over 4,000 active and retired Verizon Employees as a member of our Chapter. We hope you will join us in giving back to our communities. | Save The Date At various times throughout the year, the Chapter has special events where you can gather with fellow Pioneers and have Fun, Socialize or Volunteer. Click on the dates below to find out more information about the activity that is being held on that date. Spring Luncheon – May 3, 2012 – Penn Radisson Hotel, Camp Hill A good time to gather with fellow pioneers for fellowship and lunch. Come and catch up on what’s happening in other Clubs while enjoying a good meal.
30th Annual Sports Jamboree – June 22-24, 2012 – Fort Indiantown Gap Come, help make our 30th year an event to remember. 30 years of Pioneers and other volunteers coming together to provide a weekend of smiles and joy for our physically challenged contestants. Sight and wheelchair bound contestants ranging in age from 8-25 compete in individual and team games. It’s an experience you will never forget. Contestant registration forms will be available early 2012.
Chapter Picnic – August 19, 2012 – Knoebels Amusement Park, Elysburg, PA Bring the family to Knoebels Park for a fun day of fellowship. Discounted ride tickets are available. BINGO, door prizes and lots of delicious food is part of the fun filled day. Chapter Reunion – September 10-14, 2012 -The Grand Hotel, Cape May, NJ The theme of the Reunion this year is “Pajama Party”.
